County Landbank Demo’s in Perry Township

The Allen County Land Reutilization Corporation, also known as the Allen County Land Bank, was incorporated under the State of Ohio in January, 2016. The Land Bank is a quasi-governmental body with a 5 member Board of Directors. Under the leadership of Allen County Treasurer and Land Bank Administrator Rachael Gilroy, the Land Bank also contracts for the employment of two field services staff members.

In the fall of 2016, the Land Bank was awarded a reimbursement NIP grant in the amount of $4.5 million. The purpose of the grant is to revitalize our communities by ridding the area of vacant, blighted, tax delinquent residential properties that are a drain on our community resources and eyesores in our neighborhoods.

The Allen County Land Bank has been able to work closely with Perry Township officials to aid in revitalizing several of Perry Township’s neighborhoods. Over $50,000 has been spent to date within Perry Township, tackling four significantly blighted homes. To date, 1820 Clyde Avenue, 1304 East 9th Street, 414 E. 17th Street, and 1320 Glenn Avenue have been demolished within the township.

The Allen County Land Bank appreciates the close collaboration with township trustees, the township zoning inspector, emergency responders, and the local contractors that make projects like this possible and successful! As of February 28th, 2018, the Land Bank has demolished 160 blighted homes, and has been able to return 6 homes into the hands of those that were able to successfully rehabilitate the structures. The Land Bank is on target to have 240 homes demolished by late Fall 2018.
