Job Title: Zoning Inspector
Job Type: Part-time

Essential ResponsibiIities/Duties include, but not limited to: The Zoning Inspector shall administer and enforce Perry Township Zoning Resolutions while working with the Board of Trustees and working with legal counsel when necessary. This includes the issuance and/or denial of permits, zoning violations, record-keeping, and other duties, as needed. This is a part-time position; however, hours could fluctuate with increased or decreased zoning activities. The duties of the Zoning Inspector are those prescribed, authorize, or limited by the Board of Trustees and normally include the following.
1. Review, process and accept applications for zoning permits.
2. Investigate zoning complaints and violations and enforce the Zoning Resolutions if needed.
3. Keep and maintain accurate zoning records.
4. Maintain in current status the official zoning district map which shall be on permanent display.
5. Obtain continuing education to keep current in township zoning law; i.e. regional planning and Ohio Township Association (OTA) workshops.
6. Attend Zoning Board and Township Trustee meetings as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Combination of indoor and outdoor work assignments. Must be able to operate a vehicle. Does require some keyboarding and filing. Lifting is relatively limited.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Must be an organized individual with computer skills, familiarity with or ability to learn email, permit software and GIS Internet. Excellent communication and follow-up skills are essential to the effectiveness of this position. Organizational skills with attention to detail is required. A professional demeanor is required to ensure the effective working relationships with government agencies, Perry Township officials, fellow employees, and township residents.
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a high school diploma. Must have valid driver’s license. Must be bondable.
